To see the various ways of getting to Kangaroo Island, look under our 'Links' section

There are many ways to get around Kangaroo Island, depending on your personal preferences.  While there are many tour operators offering a huge variety of services, undoubtedly the best way to see the island at your own pace is by your own vehicle.

It should be noted that Kangaroo Island does not have a public bus or taxi service, although personalized 4WD tours can be arranged if desired.

The 'Sealink' ferry service which operates from Cape Jervis on the mainland to Penneshaw on Kangaroo Island offers a 'roll-on roll-off' service allowing you to bring your own vehicle.  Costs and availability varies depending on the season, so forward booking is essential to guarantee you can travel when you want to.

Once on the island, you can hire a vehicle from one of the many car rental firms such as Vroom Car Rentals or Thrifty Car Rentals, or take an organised tour with one of the many professional tour operators who offer a huge variety of tours catering to all tastes and budgets.  Like to know more?  Click here.

Light aircraft are a great way to see the island, allowing you to cover vast areas in next to no time, and from a position few people have seen - the extremely rugged coastline and stunning views offered are well worth the expense and experience.
